What is a public adjuster?
A licensed professional who works exclusively for the policyholder — never for the insurance company.
A public insurance adjuster is the only type of insurance adjuster licensed by the Commonwealth of Kentucky to represent you, the policyholder, in negotiating the settlement of an insurance claim. Unlike company adjusters or independent adjusters hired by your insurer, a public adjuster is your advocate.
Three types of insurance adjusters
Company Adjuster
Employed by your insurance company. Works for the carrier.
Independent Adjuster
Contracted by — and paid by — the insurance company.
Public Adjuster
Licensed to represent the policyholder. Works for you.
